Chainsaw and Pole Saw - Combined

With a basic understanding of your equipment and how it is intended to be used, you can reduce or eliminate the risk of serious injury or a possible fatality.

This three-day course aims to train staff that operate chainsaws and pole saws in the correct and effective operation ensuring awareness of safety and basic maintenance issues.

Units of Competency

• AHCMOM213 Operate and maintain chainsaws

  This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a hand-held chainsaw and maintain it in working condition. It applies to individuals who apply low risk work procedures and comply with worksite health and safety requirements when operating hand-held chainsaws to carry out routine work. You will learn about cross-cutting fallen timber using safe cutting techniques.

• FWPCOT3238 Operate a pole saw

  This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to trim high branches reachable with a power driven pole saw and to promote tree growth by trimming and felling excess branches.

  Power driven pole saw in this unit refers to professional standard pole-mounted chain saws that are typically fuel types, but may be battery powered, and generally telescopic. It applies to those who operate a pole saw in a forest environment and includes equipment maintenance.

Who is this course for?

This course is for those who operate chainsaws and pole saws within the work or home environment. This course is designed to cover the basic skills and knowledge required for safe and competent maintenance of hand-held chainsaws and pole saws in a range of situations.

Always be aware that these type of machines are dangerous in untrained hands.

Prerequisites

• All attendees MUST wear long sleeved shirt, long pants and enclosed leather shoes (with a preference for steel cap boots)
• Must be aged 16 years and above
• Chainsaws, pole saws and equipment will provided for participants.

This training will be delivered and assessed by Coates Hospitality Services, trading as Australian Training & Consulting (ATAC) - RTO ID 90866. On successful completion of the training program, the nationally recognised Statements of Attainment AHCMOM213 Operate and maintain chainsaws and FWPCOT3238 Operate a pole saw will be issued to students assessed as competent by Australian Training & Consulting (ATAC).
