Kelsie's Story

Pathways to Dreams

Inverell Community College student Kelsie Dodd is set to begin her long-awaited teaching degree through “The Tracks Program”.

  • After completing Year 12 Kelsie began enrolling in hospitality short courses at the Inverell Community College in an effort to improve her chances of finding employment locally.

After observing her commitment to upskilling and improving her resume, campus coordinator Tania Archer offered Kelsie the opportunity to start work as a trainee at the campus whilst she obtained her Certificate III in Business Administration. Kelsie progressed in her studies, excelling in her role using the work skills she was learning and her strong work ethics.

  • During her employment Kelsie was awarded Regional Finalist Trainee of the Year in the 2018 NSW State Training Awards (New England Region). Exploring the VET world gave Kelsie the confidence to move into employment within the Education Department and follow her dream of becoming a primary school teacher.

Kelsie has now been accepted to begin her teaching degree at the University of New England (UNE) through The Tracks Program as an adult entrant at the Oorala Centre.
