SITHFAB005 Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders. It requires the ability to advise customers on coffee beverages, select and grind coffee beans, prepare and assess espresso coffee beverages and to use, maintain and clean espresso machines and grinders.

This unit applies to any hospitality organisation that serves espresso coffee beverages, including cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, function and event venues.

It applies to espresso machine operators who operate with some level of independence and under limited supervision.

Pre-requisites

For work, health and safety, students will need to wear enclosed shoes and long pants to protect themselves.

Participants must hold SITXFSA001 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety (Level 1) for accreditation unless completing the course for personal development only.

This training is delivered by Community College Northern Inland Inc. RTO 90027. On successful completion of the training program, the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment SITHFAB005 Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee will be issued to students assessed as competent by Community College Northern Inland.


Assessments are made against units of competency from the Certificate II in Hospitality SIT20316.
