Introduction to Welding

This is a practical, hands-on course where you will learn the basic knowledge and skills required for welding with Manual Metal Arc (stick) and Gas Metal Arc (MIG) welding processes.

Students will receive a Statement of Attainment for completed assessments relating to the units of competency from the Metal and Engineering Training Package.

For personal safety, you will need to wear cotton clothing (long sleeves and pants), protective enclosed leather shoes and bring along welding gloves and helmet.

Assessments are made against units of competency from the Certificate II in Engineering MEM20105.
  • Perform routine gas metal arc welding (MEM05050B)
  • Preparing for the Workplace (CSO201812)
  • Perform routine manual metal arc welding (MEM05012C)
  • Recognising and Understanding Safety Signs (CSO201806)
