Kickstart - Take Away Gardening

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at gardening or growing your own food but didn’t know where to start?

This innovative new program offers participants the chance to make their own portable garden bed and learn about composting and chemical free gardening while gaining practical skills to prepare for further study or employment. Lessons will include:

  • how to compost;
  • creating a worm farm;
  • creating living soil;
  • growing chemical free food.

This course involves easy hands-on outdoor exercise and will include activities at the Inverell Community Gardens and in partnership with this active urban Landcare Group. Find pleasure, ease and fun in contributing to something bigger than yourself.

During this program, you’ll complete written work and practical activities outdoors. You will be exposed to the elements, so you’ll need to wear a broad brim hat, enclosed leather shoes and long pants during lessons.

This course is Centrelink approved for eligible students.

Assessments are made against units of competency.
