Traffic Controller Combined Skill Set (Theory) TCP

This course provides training for personnel who are required to control traffic with a Stop/Slow bat and for personnel who are required to set up and work with Traffic control guidance plans/Traffic control plans at a work site.

There are two parts to this course

  • Part 1 - Combined Skill Set - Undertaking the two-day theory component (which is this course)
  • Part 2 - Practical Assessment Day - Must be done within 90 days of Part 1 (separate enrolment)

Part 1 - Duration

This is a 2-day course with a total of 12 hours training (RMS Statement of Completion issued on satisfactory completion of training—valid for 90 days only).

Prerequisite

  • Must be over 17 years old
  • Hold at least P-plate driver's licence
  • Required to show 100 points of identification and NSW address - upon enrolment and on the day of class
  • Wear enclosed shoes, long pants and long sleeved shirt to training

Preferable:

  • Either working with a Contractor or have a host work place to undertake the practical assessments
  • Hold a White Card (this will be required for the practical assessment)

Part 2 - Practical Assessment Day

In addition to the two-day Traffic Controller Combined Skill Set (12 hours of theory training), students must do a practical assessment within 90 days with an ATAC RMS approved trainer. The practical assessment day will incur an additional fee (discuss with Campus Coordinator).

Prerequisite for the practical

  • Prior to going to a worksite, you will need to hold a valid White Card
  • The student will need to be working with a Contractor or have a host work place, to be able to get the additional evidence and supply two testimonials signed by a work place supervisor on separate occasions (work placement is not organised by Community College).

This training will be delivered and assessed by Coates Hospitality Services, trading as Australian Training & Consulting (ATAC) - RTO ID 90866. Coates Hospitality Services Pty Ltd, trading as Australian Training & Consulting (ATAC), is approved by NSW Roads and Maritime Services to deliver traffic control training in NSW. RMS Approved RTO number 1509.
