Community College extends reach with new fleet of vehicles

Community College new vehicle fleetCommunity College is always looking for new ways to go the extra mile. This week, the College took delivery of four new vehicles that will enable its growing staff to do just that!

The College is responding to community need to provide learning opportunities to people living in rural and remote areas along with the need to make sure trainers and support staff are able to travel to outlying communities safely.

According to Community College Executive Officer, Alison Heagney, "The investment in a fleet of vehicles gives us greater visibility on the ground and will help us do what we do best—bring education to our learners. Look for our new vehicles out and about in the community. We’re on the move delivering face-to-face training solutions right where you need us."

The “Yaama Wee Waa” Foundation Skills project highlights the way in which language and literacy classes are providing a valuable learning experience to communities in outreach locations. Students recently researched information and created activities highlighting a theme of both the Wee Waa Kamilaroi and the general Kamilaroi nation. The group’s work, which is undertaken each week in the Wee Waa Public Library, resulted in a publication produced and supported by the Narrabri Community College.

The fleet of Nissan X-trails supplied by Gaukroger Nissan Inverell is perfectly suited to the challenging driving conditions experienced by college staff who regularly drive long distances to reach learners and campuses throughout the region. Local experts Simply Print Anything attended to the fleet’s bright vehicle signage.
