Trainer & Assessor: Certificate III in Individual Support – Ageing Specialisation, Gunnedah Campus
I started my career in health care as a volunteer with Red-Cross-India at the age of 18. A year after finishing high school I wanted to go away from home and I was fortunate to move to Nepal to do medicine. This path of healing led me to work in a teaching hospital and there I attended some health camps at Annapurna and Everest base camps in Nepal. It was a great learning experience to study and stay there for about six years. During my studies, I also tutored school children and found my passion in teaching.
Working in Nepal gave me opportunities to treat patients and to know their culture. During my stay in Nepal, I gave some first aid training to tourists at Annapurna and Everest base camps.
Then I moved to Australia, joined Western Sydney University and learned about nursing by completing a Registered Nurse course. While studying I was mentoring nursing and medical students. An urge to explore regional Australia brought me to the Hunter New England region, now my home, where I have worked in various challenging environments from psychiatry to aged care.
Thanks to Community College Northern Inland for giving me a chance to continue my passion of teaching. Community College is a temple of knowledge and gave me a sense of satisfaction by being a part of their mission.
