Melissa Perrin
Resume
Growing up in a remote community, Melissa got to really see the value that volunteers bring to so many organisations that simply wouldn’t exist, if not for the service of their volunteers. Mel’s journey into volunteering began at age 17 – at the local pony club! She has had the great pleasure of volunteering for many organisations over the span of her life – from playgroups, preschools, sporting clubs and schools – in many and varied roles.
Mel currently works as a trainer/assessor at Community College Northern Inland Inverell campus. It’s not hard to imagine her area of expertise – the Certificate III in Active Volunteering! Students who want to build a rewarding career based on community connection are in capable hands enrolling in one of her classes.
Mel believes that volunteering has enabled her to learn new skills, meet many new people and most importantly, to give back to the community. She loves the sense of belonging that volunteers get when they are part of a team, all working together to achieve.
If Mel could make one suggestion it would be, that "everyone should get out into their community and give back – imagine how great our communities could be!"
