Employment Allrounder - Skills for Safety at work

This course bundle builds worker capability to perform the tasks expected of them without risk to health and safety. Classes are scheduled to run in campus over 5 days.

This specialised training program prepares workers for employment by teaching them how to:

  • identify health and safety legislative requirements of construction work including correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used;
  • follow safety, compliance and risk management strategies when working at heights;
  • follow safety, compliance and risk management strategies when working in confined spaces;
  • provide advanced first aid response and life support in a range of situations, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This program also includes the non-accredited training:

  • Manual Handling - 1-day workshop includes demonstrating and practising safe lifting techniques (CSO202020 Manual handling). Minimise the likelihood and impact of injury when carrying out high-risk manual tasks.

What to bring

First Aid - This course includes the Unit of Competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation. As part of the assessment for this unit, students will need to kneel on the floor and undertake two demonstrations of CPR (each a 4 minute duration) in order for the Trainer/Assessor to sign off competency for CPR. You will need to bring a clean towel to kneel upon for the floor work.
